Why We Golf
Since 1991, God has been working through Greek InterVarsity to reach fraternity and sorority students on campuses across the country. Though thousands are currently being served, there are still hundreds of thousands of Greek students that have yet to be impacted.
We believe this student population is a vital and often overlooked segment of the campus, and we’re passionate about responding to God’s call to begin reaching even more Greeks. The funds raised by this 100 Hole Golf Marathon can help us accomplish two strategic initiatives that will enable us to serve these students next year.
New Staff Recruitment
Last year, Golf Marathon proceeds went toward increasing staff recruitment efforts. We are excited to share that more than 10 official staff hires are beginning the fund raising process to get onto campuses across the country! We believe this is an answer to prayer and a result of a great Golf Marathon last year.
We will continue our efforts to recruit staff, but now we want to help these new staff get onto campus. Proceeds from this year’s Golf Marathon will go toward training staff and using matching grants, which are catalytic for getting new staff funded.
The impact of having a trained staff member on campus is substantial and we hope to aid these newest staff as they prepare to mentor and guide fraternity and sorority students.
Greek Conference Boston
Following three successful and increasingly fruitful years of northeastern Greek Conferences, the 2013 Greek Conference outside Boston, MA will be returning this fall as a nationally promoted student conference for students from across the northeast. We hope to draw 80-100 students representing 15+ schools including campuses like Cornell, UConn and Penn.
To help support and sustain this up and coming conference, we need national funding to help pull off all elements of the conference. From promotions to transportation, staging to scholarships, there are many costs involved in carrying out a national student conference. Our hope is that in a couple years as the conference grows it would no longer need this seed money, but the funds are crucial at this initial stage.
The impact of Greek Conference goes beyond just a weekend experience and instead leaves students transformed and empowered to reach their fraternity brothers and sorority sisters with the Good News of the Gospel.
Golf Marathon 2013 will be taking place on September 6th, 2013 at Pebble Brook Golf Club in Noblesville, Indiana. The event will begin at 7:00 AM and will continue till around sundown culminating in an awards banquet. Breakfast and lunch are provided, along with a steady stream of drinks and snacks throughout the day.
